My Mediasite equips faculty, trainers and students with the tools to easily record, upload and share their own videos. Robert Jan highlights several of University of Antwerp’s unique uses of My Mediasite to capture:

  • Student-generated screencasts demonstrating their problem-solving skills
  • Discussion exercises for instructor and student peer review
  • Video examples of physiotherapy students for evaluation

Tom then provides a tour of My Mediasite’s new managed-publishing workflows to ensure content approval and privacy, where needed.  Attendees are encouraged to share and discuss their own user-generated content processes.

11:45  |  Useful Tools to Re-Purpose Mediasite Videos and Enhance Learning

Vrije University Amsterdam – Erik Boon, Consultant and Product Developer, Audiovisual Centre

Using the Mediasite API, Erik has developed a useful tool that enables instructors and students to re-purpose Mediasite videos in meaningful ways. He will demonstrate VU’s LectureMash which allows blended learning instructors to easily create new learning objects from parts of previously recorded lectures.

Bristol University — Lee Mills, Implementation Officer, Strategic Projects Office

University of Leeds and Bristol University are transforming the educational experience through highly automated and scalable lecture capture at their respective institutions. They share how standardizing Mediasite workflows for both content creators and managers is the key to efficiently and cost-effectively scaling their video platforms.

The changing landscape for media formats, browsers and plug-ins poses challenges to media storage and distribution. Luckily, Mediasite insulates you from these technology changes. Dharmesh takes a deep dive into best practices for media encoding, content storage and content delivery, sharing the most compelling ways to:

  • Set up your encoding settings
  • Establish your quota policies and retention policies
  • Play back video content

He’ll also shed light on the future evolution of media delivery and playback.
