UNINETT, the Norwegian NREN, has a five-year eCampus programme aimed at offering services for lecturing and research in Norwegian higher education. One eCampus project focuses on the goal that at least 5% of all the lectures given in Norway are recorded and made available online. Thorleif shares how UNINETT's eCampus works and what they hope to achieve through:

• Hosting a centralized Mediasite infrastructure for all higher ed institutions to reduce costs and ensure that lectures are always available.
• Collecting and distributing best practises and challenges related to lecture recording, enabling universities and colleges to learn from each other and maximize their ROI.
• Producing guidelines to help universities and colleges overcome obstacles like copyright and organizational challenges.

John Gunner, Concurrent Infrastructure and Communication Technician for Concurrent Design Facility, European Space Agency

The European Space Agency's Concurrent Design Facility (CDF) is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with a network of computers, multimedia devices and software tools, which allows a team of experts from several disciplines to apply the concurrent engineering method to the design of future space missions. CDF's decision-making is by consensus, requiring cooperation and interactivity between various technical domains. Recording the rich media "conversation" between these domains improves participants' understanding of the overall system design whilst providing a knowledge base for the future. John provides a deeper look at the work his team does and how they deployed Mediasite to accomplish their goals. He also shares a glimpse into the future of how CDF intends to use their Mediasite content and system.

The Japanese word for the sound of conversation, Pecha Kucha translates as “chit chat”. This unique presentation style lets several speakers convey their most important ideas in succinct 7-minute bursts. Each presenter shares 20 image-based slides for 20 seconds each. The Multimedia Centre (MMS) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) has been streaming educational videos for over a decade and offers free video production for courses held at the different faculties. Since 2005, Mediasite has been the primary production tool and over the years has been used in a variety of ways and settings. Martin and Magnus will share successful webcasting strategies and their years of experience including technical aspects, organizational possibilites and challenges. They'll share feedback statistics from lecturers and students, a legal agreement with lecturers if they want productions externally published and future implementation solutions for creating high volumes of quality productions with minimal staff and resources.
