This month, as companies across the country celebrate customer support, we’re highlighting what sets our support team apart and introducing you to some of the smiling faces on the other end of the lines.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to Steve Davis, lead hosting administrator, who’s been with Sonic Foundry for four years.

Q: What do you like best about work at Sonic Foundry?
A: The people that work here with me. We’ve got an excellent team that is completely dedicated to customer service.

Steve graphic2Q: What’s a typical day like for you?
A: It’s hard to say, because we have such a diverse group of customers from different industries who are utilizing different technologies for different purposes. Every day is a new adventure, which is one of the things I like most about working in Mediasite’s customer support.

My job is to make sure that the Mediasite Video Cloud infrastructure is up and running and performing to customer expectations. A lot of the things our team deals with involves providing live support for customers’ live streams. We’re the voice on the other end of the line so that in case there are any issues, we’re there to provide instant support.

Q: What makes our customers unique?
A: Their diversity. Our customers are from all industries, from higher education to technology to aerospace and more. I think by bringing such a diverse pool of customers in, it really showcases what our product can do. It’s a testament to Mediasite Video Cloud.

Q: When you’re not working, where can we find you?
A: When I’m not working you can usually find me waist deep in a trout stream in southwestern Wisconsin.

Q: What are you currently watching?
A: Reruns of Battlestar Galactica. It’s my favorite show for now.

Q: What are you currently reading?
A: The Bone Labrynth by James Rollins. It’s about a fictional team of scientists that are also special forces agents battling to save the world.

Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: It’s a toss-up between Blade Runner and the original Dune.

Q: What’s a little-known fact about you?
A: I am a volunteer coordinator for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing at our local Veterans Administration hospital. We teach classes dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled military service personnel. We also provide training to their families as part of a support group. I’ve been with the organization for two-and-a-half years. I was recently promoted to project coordinator last month.
