The most trusted video managementplatform for academic, enterprise and event webcasting
When the Anchorage School District began using Mediasite, or as they call it, ASD Tube, Cheryl Johnson, technology consultant, aimed to complete three virtual trainings for teachers by the summer. But when the science department got word of Mediasite's webcasting capabilities, they ended up creating professional development e-training sessions for science teachers. In addition, they created pocket reference guides for each of the 1,200 elementary teachers in the district.
They wanted all of those teachers to receive the information prior to school starting, which would have required multiple presentations for four days straight between 64 schools that cover an area twice the size of Rhode Island, or for those living in Madison, Wis., twice the size of Dane County. Mediasite allowed them to be at those 64 locations virtually.
"I anticipated three to five years for Mediasite to become institutionalized in our district, but due to the effort of the science department, we were off and running in a few months," Johnson said.
Currently, the district has had over 10,600 views. Because of the districts efforts, it is a Rich Media Impact Award finalist in the Scholastic Achievement category.
