Association of Public Health Laboratories

The National Laboratory Training Network (NLTN), a program under the Association of Public Health Laboratories, provides training of public health significance. When Mediasite was introduced to them, they knew it was the best way for them to do trainings and disseminate other health-related information out quickly.

The most important thing the NLTN needed was mobility.

"The Mediasite equipment was demonstrated to us and it just started us thinking about all the possibilities. Mobility of the equipment itself is a great benefit to us because we can actually take it to a sight, take it to a laboratory or to a workshop or to a speaker's home laboratory and tape them there and have them do a live broadcast," said Frances Whalen, director of NLTN. 

When there was an E. coli breakout, NLTN needed to disseminate information quickly about what was being done and how the Center for Disease Control was handling it. The NLTN was able to quickly deliver a live webcast across the country with the information, and it was also made available on-demand. The webcast offered training and was the best way to get information out.
