Bonnie Schindler, University of Wisconsin-Rock County

Bonnie Schindler is a second-year student at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County. Distance education via Mediasite makes it possible for students to earn bachelor's degrees in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for engineering and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for nursing. Bonnie planned to have a career in nursing, but her experience with Mediasite made her go down a slightly different path. 

As a freshman she was hired to work on campus for the instructional technology and distance education department, and her favorite responsibility was creating tutorials for students and faculty using Mediasite. 

"I was excited to imagine all the possibilities of use for rich media in the nursing career, such as patient education," she said. "The impact of my exposure to rich media and using the Mediasite recorder at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County has changed the path of my career from nursing into nursing informatics."
