Cadence Design Systems, an electronic design automation company headquartered in San Jose, California, had always held a conference for its customers who use its software, hardware, and services to overcome a range of technical and economic hurdles. Cadence technologies help customers create mobile devices with longer battery life. 

Like many companies in this economy, the Cadence Design Systems annual conference attendance was threatened by travel restrictions. But the San Jose-based company didn't let that stop it. Instead, they used Mediasite to create a blended event, lowering costs by 90 percent while maintaining the same number of live attendees and broadening its reach. Some of the local customers attended the event, but the majority attended via a Mediasite webcast. 

"Webcasting and our platform with Sonic Foundry Mediasite is key in most of the areas we deal with in terms of our communications strategy," said Mike Chop, senior systems analyst at Cadence. "The ability for us to reliably host rich media live and on-demand has been invaluable to us.
