The Center for Rural Development

The Center for Rural Development was created in 1996 as a private, non-profit community development organization with a 42-county focus in one of the most economically, environmentally and educationally challenged areas of the country. Some of the ways its used Mediasite over the years has been to record events and training and for its entrepreneurship program. Recently, it was faced with a unique challenge that it solved with some fast thinking and Mediasite.

The Center had been engaged in an initiative to bring live Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday celebration presentations to students in southern and eastern Kentucky. Heavy snow and frigid temperatures closed schools and postponed the opening week of its scheduled performances. The Center used Mediasite to record Lincoln presenters and stream to schools across the region.

"The ease with which Mediasite works led our staff to record Lincoln presenters and in less than half a day's time we had presentations online and ready for viewing," said Larry Combs, director of business services.
