The most trusted video managementplatform for academic, enterprise and event webcasting
The Energy Center of Wisconsin went from having statewide and occasionally regional reach to webcasting to international audiences overnight simply by introducing a live webinar format alongside their on-demand training webcasts.
Mediasite has allowed the Energy Center to “come alive fostering a technical revolution in the way we deliver our message about energy efficiency,” according to Steve Kihm, research director at the Energy Center.
It allows the center to communicate its message about energy efficiency to more people, more rapidly and more efficiently. In the past, the center delivered its information in-person and through training sessions and research reports. But no matter how well-written a 100-page research report is, it’s still going to take time to get through it.
Mediasite came on the scene and changed everything. The center started using on-demand webcasts to share its information, and in 2007, there were 95 views. In 2008, there were 688 views, and in 2009 it started doing live webinars, which became like live events in which people can interact. In 2009, there were over 7,000 viewers. The first live webinar had over 1,000 people in an hour. Going live broadened its reach to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia.
“That’s a revolution,” Kihm said. “The energy center went from a domestic reach to having international reach overnight because of live webinars by Mediasite.”
Kihm described Mediasite’s impact as “colossal.” The center is now up to 11,000 views.
“What does the future hold for the energy center now that we’ve teamed up with Mediasite?” he said. “We think the future looks very bright.”
