The most trusted video managementplatform for academic, enterprise and event webcasting
In 2007, nearly 1.4 million patients received services from more than 4,700 hospice programs nationwide. In those 4,700 programs there are thousands of skilled professionals who provide specialized care, and they need ongoing training. The challenges that hospices face to provide this training are significant. The expenses for sending staff to conferences are high, time and resources needed to develop educational materials are limited and sending staff to conferences takes them away from their patients. That all changed when HEN started using Mediasite.
In 2007, HED was established to address these issues. It began inviting nationally known professionals in end-of-life care to do presentations, and it began offering annual subscriptions to those presentations.
"The flexibility of the technology allows us to send a video team to different places across the country to film presenters at different conferences. That enables us to get a large variety of very high quality programs," said Heather Wilson, president of HEN.
More than 170 hospices across the country have subscribed, and HEN has a library of over 100 courses for hospice and end-of-life care.
"I'd like to thank Mediasite for the support and the technology that has enabled us to meet our mission of trying to help hospices conserve time that can be better spent at the bedside of the patients and families that they serve," she said.
