Jeff Tippy of University of Toledo, College of Business Administration and Edward H. Schmidt School of Professional Sales, leveraged Mediasite in a number of ways including: critiquing recorded student role-playing sales techniques in a sales competition, using recorded lectures to study and improve test scores and gaining access to hiring companies through online catalogs containing interviews with hiring recruiters.
He is majoring in professional sales and marketing, and Mediasite was implemented this semester at the College of Business Administration as part of a $15.4 million expansion project.
"The way I improve my learning here using Mediasite is in the classrooms. Mediasite is used to record lectures. I can re-watch lectures to make sure I know the material," he said.
For example, a recent snow day could have put one of his classes behind schedule, but the professor, anticipating the snow day, recorded the lecture in advance and students could watch it on Mediasite.
"While I was trapped inside my home I was able to log onto Mediasite and see the lecture first hand. That way, when we came back to class we were still on task and it felt like we didn't even miss a day of lecture," he said.
Jeff has exciting plans for Mediasite in the future, too. He is the president of the professional sales and marketing fraternity and plans to link students to the corporate world by hosting a sell-a-thon next year with Mediasite. He wants to bring corporate recruiters to role play with the students.
