Students at Louisiana State University don't have to take that long trek to the gym, because the university's GroupX online classes bring the gym to them. They can work out and learn healthy lifestyle tips from the comfort of their own home thanks to Mediasite. 

The university is streaming workout videos  and tips from professionals online via Mediasite, and all you have to do to access the workout videos - including dance, yoga, cardio, and resistance, as well as the tips - is visit the UREC home page. With more than 26,000 students on campus, it was difficult to get everyone involved. But not anymore. 

The webcasts have not only increased the number of classes offered, but also the number of participants. In these GroupX online classes, an instructor takes the student through a 30-60 minute workout, each including a warm-up, a specific style of workout, and a cool down. 

In addition to these online classes, UREC also uses Mediasite to webcast competitions, student trainings, orientations and debates. 

"Mediasite has allowed LSU UREC to create an online environment that enables students and the public to participate in fitness programs and learn about a healthy lifestyle from any computer with internet access," said Scott Belanger, coordinator of marketing and public relations at UREC. "Mediasite has enhanced our ability to engage students in today's hectic world."
