With an estimated $900 million deficit in the State of Michigan budget, the Michigan Public Health Institute partnered with the Michigan Department of Community Health to maximize training opportunities for staff, vendors and partners across the state via Mediasite.

"Rich media is having a great impact on the way we're able to grow our organization and not only our organization but our customers' organizations," said Larry Doele, account executive in electronic communications at the institute.

In just six months, the institute conservatively estimates that they have saved the state more than $250,000 in travel and productivity costs.

"The amount of funds that could be spent on training is constantly at risk and so looking for more and more effective ways to do that at less cost is always our challenge. This emerging ability to do things through the use of the web is just an incredibly wonderful answer. We can do things much more cost effectively but they are also far more effective," said Brenda Fink, director of the Michigan Division of Family and Community Health.
