Michigan Public Health Institute

Government Finalist - Michigan Public Health Institute

When a new Michigan business tax was implemented, the Michigan Public Health Institute used Mediasite to tell citizens how it affected them. It held online training vignettes to get the information out quickly, and the content was much more dynamic than the traditional static text that it used to put on its website.

The institute first put a webcast on-demand that gave an overview of the new tax, and then it held a live webcast that allowed citizens to ask questions and receive answers immediately. That webcast was also put on-demand so anyone could watch it anytime.

"We find the value in Mediasite in that it allows us to train many people in a short amount of time with limited resources. It's allowed us to save on travel costs not having to go throughout the state to reach our audiences. It's also made information on-demand for folks to get on our website at any time of the day," said Caleb Buhs, communications representative at the Treasury Department for the State of Michigan.
