Missouri Association of School Administrators Delivers Professional Development to School Districts Online with Mediasite

The Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) is located in Jefferson City in the heart of the state. So when school administrators from the 522 school districts it represents need to travel to professional development programs it’s a fairly equal distance for everyone.

But it’s still hundreds of miles no matter which way they’re coming from, and that’s just not time or budget efficient.

“We started looking for a way to serve these members and Mediasite was the answer that we came up with. We created a video library of professional development programs that we sell subscriptions to for our members,” said Roger Kurtz, Executive Director of the association. “We have such great response to that we keep expanding that every year.”

From recording MASA conferences for its members who couldn’t physically attend to taking the Mediasite Recorder on the road to record sessions at national conventions, MASA is using the webcasting technology in a wide range of applications. MASA even used it to record an interview with the candidates for governor a few years ago, and then it used Mediasite’s polling capability to ask members who, if anyone, it should endorse.

“All of these programs have been very beneficial to our members,” Kurtz said. “The revenue provided by the video library supplements our operation budget for our organization. Mediasite is by far the best delivery system that we found to meet the needs of our members, and we are thankful that we started this program back in 2008 and look for other ways to continue growing in the future.”
