The Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia was founded in 1977. While it is a small school, it has big technological ambitions.
The National Center for Primary Care building was given to the school by Congress to provide valuable presentations and seminars to the medical community. The building's 570-seat auditorium is ideal for reaching a lot of people, but with travel costs and busy schedules, getting people in those seats was sometimes an issue. Once the school began streaming and recording the presentations with Mediasite everything changed.
After two years of using Mediasite the presentations had reached 113 countries and about 9,000 viewers.
"With Mediasite, in two years 9,000 people have visited us and continue to visit us, and the information is just as important and just as timely. Now they have 24/7 access to it. Our commitment is to create more and more specific health-related information and deliver it to the world," said Perry Riggins, interim executive director for the division of information technology at the school.
