Years ago when I first started using Mediasite, I was surprised at the level of support I received. From complex system setup assistance to basic troubleshooting, Sonic Foundry support has always been an invaluable resource. I would highly recommend all who use Mediasite to take advantage of Sonic Foundry’s Customer Assurance to assist in their deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting of their particular Mediasite setup.

I’ve been using Mediasite for two years to deliver live and on-demand conferences and courses to the science community at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory and the public. This has been a great success for our institution. Thanks to the constant improvement of Mediasite (version 6.1 is a must) and the great support from the Sonic Foundry team we are managing to bring the future of science to the rest of the world. We’re even able to stream on mobile devices with Mediasite, making life easier for all.

The uptick of academic video in Norway is enormous now that schools have access to Mediasite content right at their fingertips. Mediasite checks off every box and is the best lecture capture system there is. It increases the quality of teaching and communicating. Students get to learn in a more personalized way, and they really appreciate that lecture recordings are available for review on-demand.

  • From Flipped Classroom to Dual Enrollment
While Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) is the third largest school in the state, it covers more ground than any other university. The entire eastern part of the state, to be exact. In the dean’s quest to make education accessible to the region’s traditional, non-traditional and dual-enrollment students (high school students taking college courses), she had to think outside the traditional classroom experience.

We chose the Mediasite hosting model because it scales quickly. It takes time, budget, hardware and planning to build an infrastructure. Mediasite has already done that work, and there are case studies proving that it's working efficiently. It's out of sight, out of mind; it's just working. For live events in particular, it provides a piece of mind to know our Mediasite server is out there and running.

  • Embracing the Opportunities of BYOD in Higher Education Classroom AV Design
Just when you’ve got your AV plan nailed down for smart classrooms and facilities, there’s a new trend taking hold to supplement the learning that goes on in there – a dramatic shift toward BYOD and consumerization. While students and faculty have been using personal devices on campus since the first calculator, they’ve never been as functional, collaborative, personal or ubiquitous as they are now. And students have never been more tech-savvy.

A primary benefit of Mediasite for the center is the ability to provide timely, up-to-date clinical training to health providers. With this technology, poorly funded groups in many global communities that can't afford to lose providers to travel can have the opportunity to be educated in new discoveries and advances in infectious diseases.

Our research shows that students watching Mediasite presentations through the Collegerama portal are achieving higher grades and better retention of course content.

Mediasite means flexible installation capabilities, which affords our customers in the departments and colleges around the university to focus on their core competencies including research, business operations or lecturing. This leaves the technical support to university information technology. The flexibility also allows us, with some training and guidance, to pass on various tasks to support entities within those colleges and departments.

We wanted to make sure it was a flexible solution. Faculty friendliness was also a major part. Then we wanted to make sure we selected something that was easy to manage. That led us to Mediasite, particularily for its live broadcast capabilities, its on-demand capabilities, video indexing and scheduling and management systems.
