We tried Mediasite, and to be honest, we've not looked back. With only having one person, there's no way we could have done this without an automated solution. We've got a solution - Mediasite - that will record and publish and live stream.
If I don't have Mediasite, I don't have a lot of students. I have those students who were not in class go to Mediasite. They can find out what happened that day and they can come to the next class session caught up. I have had distance education students from as far away as California who have seen my course on the Internet.
Lecture capture is a tool that can give students access to experiences and content that they may otherwise not have acces to, and it also gives students the ability to review and relive an experience. You can't make somebody repeat an entire lecture just for you, but with lecture capture you can go back and watch again. It's exciting that it's started a conversation on our campus about technology in the classroom.
Campus IT priorities are changing — or are they? Clearly campus IT leaders confront significant budget challenges and as well as the growing demand for additional IT resources and services: going mobile, maintaining IT security, supporting online instruction, migrating to cloud computing, enabling lecture capture, and also updating the institutional IT infrastructure. Yet new data from the fall 2012 Campus Computing Survey reveal that core issues — the instruction integration of information technology, IT user support, and hiring/retaining qualified IT personne
With Mediasite we're helping students build their communities and maintain their lives. We are creating a more educated workforce that will have the knowledge to solve problems and be the creative innovators of the future. Educational technologies like Mediasite will be a very big driver in this economy.
Imagination knows no bounds. Mediasite is revolutionizing how we can manage and distribute information to people on campus and at a distance. This product is enhancing communication within our college and reaching audiences never imagined. Mediasite has created a new standard of technological excellence in education and we are proud to implement this technology here at Clemson.
Mediasite has helped me in both recruiting and networking for a career. I use the role playing catalogs during interviews with recruiters so they can view my work first hand to see that I'm the best student for that sales position. I can also log onto the recruiter modules to do background research on companies. Mediasite has helped me network my career.
I was excited to imagine all the possibilities of use for rich media in the nursing career, such as patient education. The impact of my exposure to rich media and using the Mediasite recorder at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County has changed the path of my career from nursing into nursing informatics.
We capture everything. We capture actual classroom activies that include audio, video and supporting material like the slides. Even something like graduation we give the chance to familes and our students to watch the graduations over and over and sometimes live.
Mediasite is invaluable, particularly for our distance-learning and part-time students because they now have the ability to enjoy the experience of a more traditional face-to-face lecture. I think it makes some of the learning outcomes easier to achieve. I am pleased to work with Sonic Foundry, the best global practitioners of lecture capture technology. It's been nice to learn from them and their global user community and not have to reinvent the wheel.
The ease at which you can go in and record and publish presentations continues to make Mediasite the leader. With the advantage of quickly publishing presentations online or doing live broadcasts, we know that the Mediasite system will be at the heart of our future endeavours.
