Mediasite and Instructure Partner to Provide Universities Integrated Video Learning Experience

ANAHEIM, Calif. EDUCAUSE Booth #1501 — October 16, 2013 — Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted leader for video content management and webcasting solutions, today announced Mediasite’s Certified Partnership with Instructure, the company that builds the Canvas learning platform. This capability allows video lectures and course modules created in Mediasite Enterprise Video Platform to be seamlessly integrated with Canvas using the IMS Basic Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standard.

Canvas is the, easy-to-use learning management system that provides instructors and students modern tools and resources to empower the learning experience. Today more than 9 million students and educators from 500 universities, colleges and school districts use Canvas every day improve the educational experience. In addition, Canvas is used by universities to offer MOOCs, such as the University of California, Irvine’s free, eight-week MOOC, titled “Society, Science, Survival: Lessons from AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead.’” These MOOC courses are offered on the Canvas Network platform where video is a key component to the curriculum.

The integration with Mediasite empowers faculty, trainers and staff to easily record, upload, publish and watch rich video content within the Canvas course management system. Students have easy access to video via single sign-on between Mediasite and Canvas. From recorded lectures and flipped learning modules to campus video and assignment clips, Mediasite Enterprise Video Platform provides management, advanced security, video search and analytics for all video content.
