Mediasite by Sonic Foundry again nominated for Best Webcasting Platform
MADISON, Wis. - August 8, 2008 - Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management, today announced the company's Mediasite platform is once again a nominee in the Best Webcasting Platform category in the second annual Streaming Media Magazine Readers' Choice Awards.
Streaming Media Magazine established the program to honor the success of streaming technology and services companies that are fueling industry growth. This year the publication identifies 20 categories and invites readers and end users to vote at www.streamingmedia.com/readerschoice. Voting is open until Monday, August 25, and winners will be announced at a reception during Streaming Media West (www.streamingmedia.com/west) in San Jose on September 23.
Last year, Sonic Foundry and Mediasite were chosen Best Webcasting Platform and Best Webcasting Appliance (www.sonicfoundry.com/readerschoice2007), singled out among 92 companies and 120 products and services nominated by customers and industry experts.
"This year's Readers' Choice Awards present more than 200 different products and services from more than 150 different companies from around the world. The fact that there's so much competition for these awards is a reflection of just how many competitive solutions are now available to consumers, enterprises and educational institutions looking for online video solutions. Regardless of who the ultimate winners are, that's something we can all celebrate," said Streaming Media Magazine editor Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen.
Since its introduction in 2003, Sonic Foundry's Mediasite has set the standard as a transformational communication medium for delivering critical information and sharing knowledge. Trusted by more than 1100 customers, the patented Mediasite webcasting and content management system quickly and cost-effectively automates the capture, management, delivery and search of rich media presentations that combine audio, video and accompanying graphics for live or on-demand viewing.
