GBS/CIDP Foundation International, Sonic Foundry Event Services Partner to Create World's First Video Library for Early Diagnosis of GBS and CIDP

MADISON, Wis. - November 5, 2010 - Armed with the latest information, physicians can diagnose patients with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) more easily and earlier, increasing the chances of successful recovery. Thanks to a partnership between Sonic Foundry, Inc.(NASDAQ: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management, and the GBS/CIDP Foundation International, the most recent developments and treatment options will be available with the click of a mouse, as Sonic Foundry Event Services webcasts the 11th International Symposium of the GBS/CIDP Foundation International. The event takes place November 5 - 7 in King of Prussia, PA.

The on-demand program will include seven general sessions and 14 workshops, offering an unprecedented level of practical information and teaching valuable skills to help providers, patients and caregivers better recognize, understand and treat the diseases. Attendees will learn about every phase of GBS and CIDP: from diagnosis, treatment and care to rehabilitation, coping skills, emotional issues and the latest in research. After the conference participants will benefit from the online library of sessions, including programs on early diagnosis for neurologists and physicians, which will be available to help train other ER personnel to diagnose these diseases.

"Guillain-Barré Syndrome is a rare neurological condition that only affects one in 100,000 people, and can follow vastly different courses. With onset of symptoms ranging from acute, life-threatening, to subtle and gradual, many patients find it difficult to know how to respond to changes or to anticipate what's coming next. Early diagnosis means early treatment. We're excited to partner with Sonic Foundry Event Services to provide a library of useful, crucial information for patients, caregivers and the medical profession," said Patricia A. Bryant, executive director of GBS/CIDP Foundation International.

"An increasing number of conferences, particularly in the medical, technical and scientific fields, recognize the importance of recording the information presented on-site and repurposing it for continuing education and professional development," said Justin Jaeck, vice president, Sonic Foundry Event Services. "We are excited to work with GBS/CIDP Foundation International to create this dynamic archive of information, allowing physicians to learn what they need to know to diagnose and treat patients quickly."
