Live Webinar: How to Make Lecture Capture Faculty-Friendly

MADISON, Wis. - July 15, 2010 - Join Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management, for a live webinar about blended learning from two perspectives: the instructor and IT team member who create and distribute rich media presentations to the campus community.

WHEN: Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. CDT
WHERE: To register for this complimentary webinar, visit http://sofo.com/06735.

At Central Michigan University's Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions faculty, IT and AV staff came together to create a painless approach to lecture capture, resulting in more than 2,200 presentations streamed and a landmark 100,000 student views.

The key: technology-enabled classrooms, specially-designed facilities and self-serve kiosks that deliver premium production values and a stress-free user experience for both faculty and their student viewers.

Hear from Dr. Christina Eyers who has been teaching with Mediasite for over five years and is now a self-proclaimed "fan of hybrid courses":

  • Discover why she prefers an appliance-based approach to recording online instruction and faculty-student interaction
  • Understand how "storefront appeal" and ease-of-use create better teaching and learning experiences, and boost the image of both the instructor and the school
  • Find out how to use lecture capture to not only provide better clarity in clinical demonstrations but also avoid using valuable in-class time on concepts that can be reviewed in advance
  • See how to extend the reach of traditional course instruction to continuing education for state licensure, student presentations and critiques, guest speakers and alumni outreach

Then get a virtual tour complete with inspiring photos from the technical lead, Mike Hinko, Manager, Production Services:

  • Explore how CMU equipped its Health Innovation Lab with examination tables and other specialized health professions equipment to create a state-of-the-art production facility
  • Learn tips for working with an integrator to build a control room, flexible lecture halls and a production facility that uses multi-camera production, studio lighting, professional-grade microphones, videoconferencing, and live streaming-- yet remains approachable for faculty
  • Get ideas for creating self-serve lecture capture kiosks around Mediasite that let faculty record solo with just a 15-minute orientation, and produce superior online course materials than a software only approach
