Sonic Foundry and Shure Incorporated Announce Details of a Strategic Marketing Alliance

NEW YORK, NY — Sonic Foundry (Nasdaq: SOFO), a leading developer and marketer of media authoring tools and digital audio software for Windows[R], today announced details of a strategic marketing relationship with Shure Incorporated, the world's leading supplier of microphones.

The two companies have in particular collaborated to develop 'The Shure Microphone Library,' an innovative collection of more than 60 impulses from Shure microphones designed specifically for use with Sonic Foundry's Acoustic Mirror DirectX Audio Plug-In. A powerful digital signal-processing tool, Acoustic Mirror allows users to add the acoustical coloration of real environments and sound altering devices to existing recordings.

Sonic Foundry's Acoustic Mirror DirectX Audio Plug-In uniquely allows users to impart and actually incorporate the acoustical responses of a given environment onto a sound file. In addition to achieving realistic imaging, the impulses can also be used to generate one-of-a-kind effects.

Acoustic Mirror features an extensive library of extremely high-quality acoustics signatures, or impulse responses. In fact, hundreds of hours were spent measuring the acoustics of many diverse environments to collect these impulse responses, with the result being unparalleled stereo imaging and realism of the processed sound.
