Sonic Foundry Appoints Dharmesh K. Sampat Vice President of Engineering

MADISON, Wis. - April 29, 2011 - Sonic Foundry, Inc.(NASDAQ: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting, lecture capture and knowledge management, today announced the appointment of Dharmesh Sampat as Vice President of Engineering.

Mr. Sampat joined Sonic Foundry as a Software Design Engineer in October 2001 as part of the company's acquisition of the Mediasite technology from Carnegie Mellon University, later assuming responsibility for overseeing the design and development of the Mediasite webcasting platform. He has served as Director of Engineering since October 2008. Mr. Sampat will continue to lead the company's engineering and product development initiative.

Mr. Sampat holds 20 years of engineering leadership, product design and development, and process management expertise in the software industry. Prior to joining Sonic Foundry, he served as a technical lead and manager at Tata Consultancy Services, India and Mediasite Inc., focusing on image processing applications, streaming media applications and digital video libraries. Mr. Sampat has a Master's degree in Computer Technology from Mumbai University, Mumbai, India.
