Sonic Foundry Establishes Mediasite Grant Program to Support Engineering Research and Education

MADISON, WI —

Sonic Foundry[R] Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), a leading rich media solutions company, has established a grant program designed to support engineering schools in their R&D initiatives and enhance communication among research teams regardless of location. The Mediasite in Engineering Research grant program was launched today at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) 2005 Conference for Industry and Education Collaboration, held Feb. 1-4 in Savannah, Ga.

Through Mediasite in Engineering Research, Sonic Foundry will award selected recipients a complete Mediasite[TM] rich media recording and publishing system, plus an additional $10,000 one-time stipend. The product and cash awards are valued at $50,000 each. The grant program is open to all industry-sponsored research programs at U.S.-based graduate engineering schools. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2005. The grants will be awarded in April 2005.

Large multi-sponsor engineering research programs have great difficulty keeping all parties across multiple locations up-to-date on program discoveries and progress. By deploying a Mediasite rich media system, these leading researchers will be able to quickly and efficiently exchange highly detailed technical information, while creating a valuable archive that documents developments in their research initiatives.
