Sonic Foundry Releases Version 2.0 of its ACID[TM] Style Family of Music Creation Software

Sonic Foundry (Nasdaq: SOFO), a leading developer and marketer of media authoring tools for Windows[R], today announced the release of Version 2.0 of its ACID Style family of genre-specific, loop-based music creation tools.

ACID Style 2.0 includes updated versions of ACID DJ and ACID Rock, and features the addition of ACID Hip-Hop, an exciting new title that allows PC users to easily create professional-quality Hip-Hop music. Key enhancements provided within ACID Style 2.0 include support for unlimited tracks and the ability to save files to MP3, RealMedia G2, and Windows Media formats. In addition, ACID DJ, ACID Hip-Hop, and ACID Rock users will now be able to share their musical creations with the Internet community via Sonic Foundry's ACIDplanet.com, a unique Web site that allows any ACID user to self-publish music online.

Each member of the ACID Style 2.0 product family comes with hundreds of royalty-free sound clips (loops) recorded by professional musicians. Users select loops directly from the explorer window, drag them onto the program's track view, and then arrange them into multiple-track projects. The easy-to-use software automatically adjusts the key and tempo of incoming loops to ensure musical compatibility and continuity.

The ACID Hip-Hop sound library, developed for Sonic Foundry by Professional Remixer Doug Beck, includes over 600 distinctive Hip-Hop loops, ranging from old school and new school beats to classic scratches and beat box. Beck is best known for remixing popular top-40 hits for the dance club and consumer markets, including such noteworthy singles as Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," and Shania Twain's "Still The One." The ACID DJ component of ACID Style includes over 600 dance loops of synth, bass, guitar, percussion, and more, while ACID Rock features an equivalent number of Rock loops of drums, guitars, keyboards, and other instruments.

"With the release of Version 2.0, ACID Style users can now create recordings with an unlimited number of tracks and easily save them in today's most popular audio file formats," said Rimas Buinevicius, Chairman and CEO of Sonic Foundry. "This flexibility, combined with the self-publishing features to ACIDplanet.com, makes it incredibly simple for ACID musicians to distribute their music worldwide."

The ACID Style 2.0 products require a Pentium 133 microprocessor, Microsoft Windows 9x or NT 4.0 or later, a Windows-compatible sound card, VGA display, CD-ROM drive, 32 MB of RAM, and 8 MB of hard-drive space for program installation.

ACID Hip-Hop, ACID DJ, and ACID Rock each sell for a suggested retail price of $59.95, and are currently available for purchase by resellers through national computer products distributors. End-users can purchase ACID Style 2.0 products directly from Sonic Foundry's Web site or a wide variety of computer and music retailers nationwide.
