Sonic Foundry Wins Two More Industry Awards

Sonic Foundry (Nasdaq: SOFO), a leading developer and marketer of media authoring tools and digital audio software for the Windows[R] platform, announced today that it recently received two more industry awards. Its ACID PRO music creation software was honored with a 'Front Line Award' by Game Developer Magazine, and its Sound Forge 4.5 audio media editing program received a 'NewMedia Hyper Award' from NewMedia magazine.

Game Developer's Front Line Awards are the publication's tribute to the outstanding game development products and technology tools that were released in 1998 and emphasize innovation over popularity. They are intended to honor the developers behind a wide range of tools in 14 different categories that help game designers create and innovate. Sonic Foundry's ACID PRO was the award winner in the Audio Composition category, and its Sound Forge 4.5 was also named a finalist in the Recording and Editing category.

The NewMedia Hyper Awards celebrate the best in cutting-edge software and hardware products and technologies for creating and presenting digital media. To select the winners of these awards, NewMedia first conducted background research, scoured the Web, and consulted with industry analysts and insiders to arrive at a list of nominees. The magazine then polled its judges, experts who regularly embrace and do battle with the newest technology, and pooled their votes with those of NewMedia's editors and contributing editors. Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge 4.5, which was already a member of the magazine's 'Hall of Fame,' was chosen as the winning product in the Audio Editor category.

"We are very grateful to receive these awards from two such prominent industry publications," said Roy Elkins, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sonic Foundry. "These types of industry accolades are very rewarding because they confirm that we are meeting our commitment to provide innovative software solutions that truly advance the state of the art in their respective categories."

Sonic Foundry's ACID PRO is a revolutionary loop-based music production tool for Windows that brings unprecedented creative flexibility to loop arranging and editing. With a simple click and drag, users can combine and mix loops, make real-time changes to pitch and tempo, and control the volume, pan, and effects envelopes for each track to create the perfect mix. ACID's complete professional toolset includes support for multiple real-time effects with DirectX plug-ins and also provides easy access to Sound Forge or other audio editors.

Sound Forge 4.5 is the most comprehensive audio editing and Internet development tool in the industry. Packed with dozens of advanced, high quality features for manipulating sound, Sound Forge lets users record, edit, and process mono or stereo audio files and sync audio to video quickly and easily, making it ideal for multimedia projects or Internet applications. Sound Forge is fully compatible with Microsoft Windows Media Technologies 4.0 and RealNetworks' G2 file formats, supports a wide variety of popular audio file types, including .WAV and Java .AU, and includes a variety of effects such as Reverb, EQ, Distortion, and Fade In/Out.
