Streaming Media Takes Center Stage

SAN JOSE, CA — Shares of several new media companies could advance this week on news coming from this week's Streaming Media West conference here, which kicks off on Tuesday.

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Bill Gates, who will deliver the first keynote address, heads a stellar lineup of key industry figures.

Top executives from such publicly traded companies as Intervu (ITVU), Apple (AAPL), PictureTel (PCTL), Macromedia (MACR), News Corp.'s News America Digital(NWS), Ziff-Davis (ZD), CNet (CNET), Sonic Foundry (SOFO), Lycos (LCOS), USA Networks (USAI), Viacom's (VIA) Showtime, and many others will appear either as panelists or as keynote speakers.

Some 120 exhibitors will participate in the show, which is the world's largest independent conference and exhibition for Internet content providers and streaming technology developers.
