MADISON, WI — MEDIA ADVISORY

WHO:

As a graduate of numerous active and reserve component schools, CPT Plasterer will discuss the challenge of keeping reserve component personnel's skills current.

He was instrumental in creating the Marine Corps' satellite distance learning program, entitled the College of Continuing Education, at the Marine Corps University. Additionally, he has served as the Reserve Officers Education Coordinator.

WHAT:
Deployed military personnel face challenges every day that test their courage and competency. Key factors to their success include access to knowledge on the latest updates on threat and counter-measures and the assurance that family and friends are safe and supportive of their efforts. Commanders challenged by these requirements are turning to webcasting and web communication systems to create anytime, anywhere knowledge catalogs for troops to access whenever they want during the call of duty.

Participants will explore the ways online communications can create accessible catalogs of lessons learned and after-action reviews to share in the unit and beyond. Examples will be shared regarding how these presentations can complement current military education programs with subject matter expert presentations, using integrated and streamed audio, video and graphics. The panelists will also discuss the importance of maintaining the connection between family members separated by deployment with recorded video and graphic greetings that troops can watch during downtime.
