The most trusted video managementplatform for academic, enterprise and event webcasting
MADISON, Wis., April 13, 2010 - Sonic Foundry, Inc. (Nasdaq:SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management, received a congratulatory webcast and proclamation from Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle as the company enters into its 20th year since being founded. The message was delivered at UNLEASH 2010, the 4th Annual Mediasite User Conference, held this week in Madison, Wis.
Founded two decades ago and led by University of Wisconsin graduates Monty Schmidt, founder and CTO, and Rimas Buinevicius, chairman and CEO, Sonic Foundry has charted the future of digital media and communication technology first through groundbreaking desktop software and today with an award-winning webcasting and knowledge management platform, Mediasite.
"Sonic Foundry is a great example of the innovative, high-tech companies we are trying to grow here in Wisconsin, and the company's technology is changing the way we communicate and do business," said Gov. Jim Doyle. "This technology represents the future of our globalized world - where students, business leaders, researchers and many others can communicate instantly and work together to solve the challenges that lay before us. I commend Sonic Foundry for 20 great years, and I am really proud that Sonic Foundry continues to call Wisconsin home."
There is a long history of collaboration between Sonic Foundry and Governor Doyle's administration. From the live webcast of the 2003 inauguration ceremony to the annual State of the State address, Mediasite provides the Governor with an online platform to instantly reach citizens throughout Wisconsin.
In addition, 22 agencies within the state of Wisconsin use Mediasite for live and on-demand webcasting of public meetings and training to help residents, staff and partners work and learn more efficiently, including helping the Department of Health Services plan pandemic flu responses last year. "We are honored by this commendation from Governor Doyle. Two decades ago we set out to change the way the average person created and shared music and video files. Today we are forging a future where not only the state of Wisconsin, but knowledge workers around the world are sharing groundbreaking research, creating virtual libraries, training emergency responders and even reducing the carbon footprint with webcasting," said Rimas Buinevicius, chairman and CEO of Sonic Foundry. "We are proud to be a part of Wisconsin's growing high tech economy and committed to using webcasting technology to further link Wisconsin to the global community."
