He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a MFA in Theatre Technology from Indiana University. Tobin is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and sits on the board of the ESTA Foundation.
