"The Sam M. Walton College of Business was thrilled to be awarded a Rich Media Impact Award. We’ve used Mediasite to deliver dissertations live for faculty members that were traveling, to create training and orientation videos for new staff and faculty, to deliver a few classes across the globe to our partner college in New Delhi, India, and much more. Having this award is a constant reminder of the benefits of webcasting and motivates us to continue communicating to the masses in new and innovative ways."
By now you may have heard about Bob van den Brand, an adjunct associated professor from Tilburg School of Economics and Management in the Netherlands. He’s using Mediasite in creative ways to get through to his tech-minded students in short 10-minute lectures.
Bob’s been recognized countless times for his fantastic lecture capture program, iSTAR Learning Project, which has dramatically increased the pass rates and satisfaction ratings among the second-year accounting students.
Feel-Good Mediasite Moment of the Week – UNLEASH Edition – from Mona Aldana-Ramirez, San Antonio College
"UNLEASH feeds my creative side, and at the same time I discover my inner “tech geek”. The conference is innovative and pushes the envelope on incorporating new technology – such as the conference’s new mobile app. I especially enjoy networking with people from all around the world and discussing ideas and tips. I leave knowing that I can utilize Mediasite and other technologies in many more ways. Sonic Foundry takes care of the details that make for an invigorating experience that recharges my “go get ‘em” spirit. I leave with the UNLEASH advantage.
University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Uses Webcasts for Flipped Classroom, Lecture Capture and Special Events
Many new freshmen at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) have been introduced to a new form of learning this semester – flipped instruction, a fancy way of saying that lectures are pre-recorded and watched prior to class so that classroom time can be spent having in-depth discussions about the content.
What’s Halloween without a little vertigo, a bed of nails and a really bad horror flick?
It’s incomplete, that’s what. So we here at Sonic Foundry thought we’d share a few Mediasite presentations for your viewing enjoyment. Our apologies in advance for our no-budget film “The Slashing.” We made it five years ago. Be kind.
"As a faculty member, I think that we can make recorded video really fit with today’s pedagogy. We are moving away from the sage on the stage to becoming the guide on the side. We’re encouraged to use multiple learning styles, interactive assignments, collaboration tools. We can marry those things with recorded video for some areas. We’re very reliant on this wonderful product, Mediasite." ~ Marsha Orr, California State University, Fullerton
Incredible! It was only 12 short months ago that I wrote a similar post for UNLEASH 2011. And here we are, fresh off the new year and kicking off our sixth annual Mediasite User Conference to be held May 7-9 in Madison, Wisconsin. This year we’re Unleashing the Edge at the best networking and learning venue for Mediasite enthusiasts around the globe.
Each year at UNLEASH, the Mediasite User Conference, I’m always amazed at the diversity of our attendees.
I don’t know why this surprises me, since the cross-section of UNLEASH participants is a true representation of Mediasite webcasting and lecture capture customers around the world.
On the geographic front, we’re honored to have hosted guests from five continents! Here’s what some of our international Mediasite fans have said about UNLEASH:
It’s that time of year. Resolutions are made. New projects started. Goals set. The invigorating start of the year also provides a prime opportunity to try something new.
